Call for abstracts

Abstract submissions closed

Cochrane SA is pleased to announce the call for abstracts for the Cochrane SA National Symposium 2022. Abstracts addressing the following objectives will be considered:

  1. Producing high-quality evidence
    • Building capacity for researchers and users of evidence
       
  2. Making evidence accessible
    • Share the work that Cochrane and others working in evidence-informed healthcare are doing. This may include students, policymakers, researchers, clinicians, media and the public
       
  3. Advocating for evidence
    • Awareness-raising about evidence-based healthcare' clinical reporting and transparency, knowledge translation and clinical guidelines methods
    • Promote the work of clinical trial registries
       
  4. Building effective and sustainable research networks
    • Building a stakeholder network interested in advancing evidence-based healthcare nationally, regionally and globally

Abstracts must be submitted online no later than 30 September 2022. All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the Abstract Committee and the presenting author will be notified by 14 October 2022 whether or not their abstract has been accepted. The final decision regarding the presentation form will be based on the Abstract Committee's assessment.

The final acceptance of the poster or short oral presentation in the programme is conditional on the presenting author completing his/her registration by 28 October 2022. Registration is free.

Abstract guidelines
  • Abstracts must be submitted on the online 
  • Indicate your preferred presentation format: short oral or poster presentation
  • Abstracts must be submitted in English
  • The abstract title should be short, clear and indicate the content of the abstract
  • List the name and surname of the presenting author and co-authors
  • List the affiliations of each author
  • If abbreviations are used, the abbreviated term must be written out in full the first time it is used
  • Tables and graphs can be submitted with your abstract as an attachment. The following formats are allowed: png, pdf, jpg, jpeg, gif. Please insert the reference (Table 1, Figure 1, etc)
  • The abstract is limited to 450 words and must include the following headings:
     
    • Introduction
      • Establish the context, background and/or importance of the topic and indicate a problem, controversy or a gap in the field of research
    • Aim/Objective(s)
      • Indicate the aim/main objectives of the research
    • Methods
      • Description of research design (qualitative or quantitative), data sources, subjects, data collection and analysis
    • Results
      • Summary and discussion of results
    • Conclusion
      • Statement of the study's conclusion and/or implication of the results
