Protocol Development online training course

Cochrane South Africa is hosting a Protocol Development online course from 24 August - 23 October 2020. The course consists of eight self-directed learning modules of between 45-120 minutes each. Each week participants will cover 1-2 modules at their own pace followed by weekly 1-hour question and answer sessions with facilitators. During the course participants will use the information learned to develop their own protocols, with support from facilitators.

Criteria for acceptance on the course:
  • Submission of a completed application form
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have a systematic review titled registered with Cochrane or PROSPERO
  • Resident in a sub-Saharan African country
  • Applicant is from a South African historically disadvantaged institution
  • Able to participate in sessions and to cover approximately 2 hours' worth of content weekly as well as the question and answer sessions

Please note a maximum of 20 applicants will be accepted.

The course is free thanks to the generosity of Cochrane for providing access to the online Cochrane Interactive Learning: Conducting an Intervention Review material.

Cochrane will issue participants with a certificate on completion of the course and post course mentoring will be available to participants conducting Cochrane Reviews.

Continuing professional development points will be awarded to South African participants who are members of the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
