Prematurity Awareness Month

Prematurity Awareness Month is observed in November each year and World Prematurity Day on 17 November, to raise awareness of the pain, suffering and death preterm birth can cause. Each year 15 milion babies are born prematurely - more than 1 in 10 babies around the world. Complications from preterm birth are the leading cause of child deaths under age 5 each year, accounting for nearly 1 million deaths.

The Cochrane Neonatal and Cochrane Pregnancy and Childbirth Groups prepare and disseminate evidence-based, regularly updated systematic reviews. For more information about these Groups and for a list of resources click here
